125-year-old Hindu Temple In Narowal Damaged By Rains, Not Demolished
UrduPoint (3rd Sep, 2026) - Nasir Mushtaq, Additional Secretary of the Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB), along with Sardar Ramesh Singh Arora, Provincial Minister for Minority Affairs, and Tayyab Khan, Deputy Commissioner of Narowal, visited a 125-year-old Hindu temple in Siraj village on the outskirts of Narowal.
They inspected the site and categorically denied rumors that the historic temple had been deliberately demolished. Nasir Mushtaq stated that no individual or institution was responsible for the damage, attributing it to recent heavy rains that caused a portion of the ancient structure to collapse. He emphasized that calling this incident a deliberate act is unfounded and that anti-state elements are spreading false narratives to harm Pakistan's positive image regarding minority rights.
The ETPB official clarified that no Hindu families reside in Siraj village or nearby areas, and the temple is currently inactive with no religious ceremonies held there. He announced that the ETPB would soon initiate restoration work on the historic temple with support from the Punjab government.
Nasir Mushtaq reaffirmed the ETPB's commitment to protecting and preserving minority religious sites and Pakistan's historical heritage. He assured effective security measures for these places, ensuring the safety of visitors.
