Federal Special Assistant Huzefa Rehman says extensive work has already been done on the draft, and the amendment will be introduced before the New Year, with its arrival possibly delayed or advanced by 10 days.
ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 31st Oct, 2026) Prime Minister’s Special Assistant Huzefa Rehman has claimed that the 28th Constitutional Amendment is inevitable and will be introduced before the New Year. He stated that its introduction could be delayed or advanced by 10 days, but it would definitely be brought forward.
Speaking on ARY News’ program ‘The Reporters’, Rehman said extensive work had already been completed on the draft of the 28th Constitutional Amendment, reiterating that it would be introduced before the New Year.
Rehman addressed Bilawal Bhutto’s call for an end to the debate on creating new provinces, questioning what measure he used to determine public opposition to new provinces. He suggested that public opinion could be gauged through Parliament or a public referendum.
He emphasized that the creation of new provinces through the 28th Constitutional Amendment is crucial, stating that without this amendment, new provinces would never be formed.
