70-year-old Man Arrested For Forced Marriage With Young Girl In Swabi
Peshawar, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th Aug, 2026) Police in Swabi district on Tuesday claimed to have arrested a 70-year-old man for allegedly attempting to force a 15-year-old girl into marriage.
According to police, the incident occurred in a village in Chota Lahore, where the suspect was preparing to marry the girl. Police said the girl is unable to hear or speak.
The proposed marriage was allegedly being arranged with the involvement of the girl’s parents. Acting on information, a police team, including female constable, reached the location and found that the girl was underage and had hearing and speech disabilities.
The police subsequently took action against the 70-year-old man and registered a case against him. Further investigation is underway.
