70,000 Saplings To Be Planted At Four Sites In Abbottabad: Talha Hussain

Special Secretary Climate Change, Forests, Environment and Wildlife Department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Talha Hussain Faisal inaugurated a Defense Day plantation campaign at Village Council Sialkot, adjoining Thandiani, as part of a province-wide drive to plant one million saplings.
Speaking at the ceremony, Talha Hussain Faisal said the plantation drive aligned with Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sohail Khan Afridi's vision to green the province. He stated that 70,000 saplings would be planted at four locations in Abbottabad as part of the one-million-sapling target for Defense Day.
The Special Secretary emphasized that while planting trees was a crucial first step, protecting them was equally vital. He assigned Forest Department personnel to safeguard plantations in areas without settlements. He urged public participation in efforts to boost forest cover throughout the province for environmental preservation, human survival, and mitigating climate change impacts.
Principal Thailand Forest School and Conservator Syed Tariq Ali Shah, DFO Galiyat Muhammad Bilal, and former Patan Kalan Nazim Haji Ali Akbar also spoke at the event, highlighting the significance of tree plantation. Local community members, including Sialkot Awami Welfare Organisation Chairman Muhammad Iqbal and President Muhammad Iqbal Saghar, actively participated by planting saplings and distributing them to residents.
The gathering addressed local concerns regarding firewood shortages and crop damage from wild boars. Authorities assured participants that measures would be taken to resolve these issues.
