Abu Dhabi to Host First-ever Euroleague Basketball SuperCup

The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) and Euroleague Basketball have announced the launch of the Euroleague Basketball SuperCup, a new competition marking the official opening of the European club basketball season. The inaugural edition will take place at the Etihad Arena on Yas Island, Abu Dhabi, on 18th and 19th September.

The SuperCup is a significant addition to Euroleague Basketball's competition structure, offering a premium annual event that showcases the best of European club basketball and expands the league's global reach. Abu Dhabi hosting the first edition underscores the city's growing reputation as an international sports destination and its commitment to hosting world-class events.
The inaugural SuperCup will feature four elite clubs:
- Olympiacos Piraeus (reigning EuroLeague champion)
- Fenerbahce Tarfin Istanbul (2025 EuroLeague champion)
- Real Madrid (2026 finalist)
- Dubai Basketball (representing the UAE)
The competition will adopt a Final Four format, with two games played each day. On Friday, 18th September, Olympiacos Piraeus will face Fenerbahce Tarfin Istanbul at 18:00 GST (16:00 CEST), while Dubai Basketball takes on Real Madrid at 21:00 GST (19:00 CEST).
The tournament concludes on Saturday, 19th September, with the third-place game at 18:00 GST (16:00 CEST) followed by the first-ever Euroleague Basketball SuperCup Final at 21:00 GST (19:00 CEST).

This new competition builds upon the success of the EuroLeague Final Four event held in Abu Dhabi, marking another chapter in the enduring partnership between Euroleague Basketball and DCT Abu Dhabi.
The agreement, brokered by Euroleague Basketball's strategic partner IMG, supports the league's international growth strategy while further strengthening the bond between Abu Dhabi and European basketball.
