Acting President Gillani Stresses Maximum Relief For Floods Affected People Of GB
ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 3rd Sep, 2026) Acting President, Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani on Thursday stated that the situation resulting from floods in Gilgit-Baltistan required sustained attention and collaborative efforts, emphasizing that maximum relief measures must be provided to the affected individuals.
He voiced these opinions during a conversation with Deputy Speaker Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly, Malik Kifayatur Rehman, accompanied by former Forest Minister, Muhammad Imran Wakeel from Tangir Valley in Diamer and former Member Provincial Assembly (MPA) from Kohistan, Abdul Sattar Khan, as per a Presidency's news release.
Discussion also focused on the overall political scenario in Gilgit-Baltistan. Abdul Sattar Khan expressed gratitude to Mr. Gilani for establishing a Degree College in Dasu during his tenure as Prime Minister of Pakistan.
In separate meetings:
- Justice (Retd) Irfan Qadir, consultant Legal Affairs, updated Mr. Gilani on decisions made regarding representations filed under Section 14 of the Federal Ombudsmen Institutional Reforms Act, 2013, against orders issued by the five Ombudsmen of Pakistan at the federal level.
- A delegation from Pakistan Association of Automotive Parts & Accessories Manufacturers (PAAPAM), led by Chairman Usman Aslam Malik, met Mr. Gilani to discuss matters pertaining to the country's automotive industry.
- Dr Kaleem Zaidi and Resident Editor, Khabrain Multan, Syed Sajjad Bukhari called on Mr. Gilani, raising concerns about Multan and South Punjab. They expressed gratitude for Mr. Gilani's personal interest in the development of the region.
- Dr Abdul Ghaffar Jhammat, from Darya Khan, Bhakkar, met with Mr. Gilani to discuss regional matters.
