AIOU Promotes Love for the Holy Prophet (PBUH) Through Naatia Mushaira
Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) organized a soul-stirring Naatia Mushaira to promote love and devotion for the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), appreciate Seerat-e-Tayyaba, and celebrate the noble character and Prophetic way of life. The event aimed to instill a profound love for the Holy Prophet (PBUH) in students while fostering Islamic values, traditions, cultural awareness, and high moral and social standards.
The Mushaira was jointly organized by the Department of Urdu and AIOU FM Radio91.6. Renowned writer and poet Muhammad Izhar-ul-Haq presided over the event, while Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences, Prof. Dr Syed Muhammad Amir Shah, and renowned poet Akhtar Usman served as chief guests. Prof. Dr Abdul Aziz Sahir and Arsh Hashmi were the guests of honor.
Renowned poets, including Qayyum Tahir, Dr Kashif Irfan, Dr Qasim Yaqoob, Dr Abid Sial, Dr Shaza Akbar, Dr Asad Munir, Dr Junaid Azar, Riffaqat Razi, Farzand Ali Hashmi, and Dr Arshad Mahmood Nashad, presented beautiful Naatia poetry in praise and devotion to the Holy Prophet (PBUH). Their heartfelt verses created a deeply spiritual atmosphere, which was warmly appreciated by the audience.
Dr Mehnaz Anjum served as the stage secretary. On the occasion, Chairperson of the Department of Urdu, Dr Arshad Mahmood Nashad, delivered welcome remarks and highlighted the objectives of the Mushaira. He stated that such gatherings are not only a beautiful expression of love for the Holy Prophet (PBUH) but also play a vital role in introducing the younger generation to Seerat-e-Tayyaba and its universal messages of morality, tolerance, love, patience, and humanity.
Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences, Prof. Dr Syed Muhammad Amir Shah, addressed the gathering and emphasized that with the blessed advent of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), light spread throughout humanity, dispelling the darkness of ignorance. He noted that following his teachings can lead to building a peaceful, tolerant, and morally upright society. Prof. Dr Amir Shah further emphasized the importance of organizing literary, religious, and cultural gatherings at universities for the intellectual, moral, and spiritual development of students, alongside academic activities.
The Naatia Mushaira is part of AIOU's ongoing academic, literary, cultural, and intellectual activities under the leadership of Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr Nasir Mahmood. These initiatives aim to provide students with quality education while familiarizing them with Islamic values and traditions.
