AI’s Responsible, Ethical Use Vital For Faculty: PU VC
Punjab University (PU) Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Ali on Tuesday stated that Artificial Intelligence (AI) has become an integral part of everyday life and modern education, emphasizing the necessity of its responsible, ethical, and effective use for faculty members to keep up with emerging educational trends.
He was addressing a certificate distribution ceremony for faculty members who successfully completed a three-day training workshop on "Ethical & Effective Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI)" organized by Punjab University Skill Development Centre (SDC). Director SDC Prof Dr Muhammad Imtiaz Shafiq, several faculty members, and others attended the event.
The Vice Chancellor commended the SDC for organizing the successful and need-based training workshop for university teachers. He noted that the Higher Education Commission (HEC) has already integrated AI into various academic disciplines and degree programs, making digital competence increasingly crucial for educators in higher education.
Prof. Dr. Muhammad Imtiaz Shafiq, Director SDC, expressed gratitude to the Vice Chancellor for his visionary leadership, continuous support, and keen interest in faculty development initiatives. He also provided an overview of the workshop's core objectives and outcomes.
Participating faculty members expressed their appreciation for the university administration and SDC team for arranging the training, stating it had significantly enhanced their daily workflow, research activities, and instructional capabilities.
Subsequently, the Vice Chancellor distributed certificates to the participating teachers.
