The former federal minister, Fawad Chaudhry, has expressed his view that the arrest of Alima Khan, sister of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, will escalate political tensions in the country. He stated this following her detention under the 3-MPO for 30 days and subsequent transfer to Kot Lakhpat Jail in Lahore.
Chaudhry praised Alima Khan's activism on social media, acknowledging her courage in advancing Imran Khan's political and constitutional mission. He suggested that such actions by the government are likely to evoke a negative response, impacting Pakistan's political system.
He warned that imprisoning political figures like Khan would intensify political bitterness and instability, potentially having unfavorable consequences for the government itself.
