Amna Almarzooqi Represents UAE on A2RL Technical Team at Italy's Imola Circuit
Emirati race car mechanic Amna Almarzooqi is participating as a member of the technical team for the Abu Dhabi Autonomous Racing League (A2RL), operated by ASPIRE under the Advanced Technology Research Council. The championship is holding its third edition at Italy's renowned Imola circuit on Saturday.
Almarzooqi, the only Emirati on the technical team, focuses on mechanical and technical aspects of the race cars, including:
- Preparing them for testing and competition.
- Conducting inspections and maintenance.
- Handling technical requirements that arise during track operations with speed and efficiency.
She shared her pride in representing her country and participating internationally outside Abu Dhabi for the first time, aiming to apply her engineering skills to maintaining and developing autonomous Super Formula race cars.
Her role also involves:
- Managing and preparing all spare parts and components.
- Overseeing inventory and ensuring necessary parts and equipment are ready for testing and events.
- Ensuring all cars are fully prepared and maintained to the highest level of uniformity, focusing the challenge on software and artificial intelligence applications.
Almarzooqi's career began after graduating from the Higher Colleges of Technology with a degree in aeronautical engineering. Her passion for advanced technology led her to join ASPIRE and work on racing and Formula projects. She joined A2RL around a year and a half ago, initially as a car mechanic, before taking on expanded responsibilities.
She identified the fast-paced working environment's main challenges as requiring flexibility and adaptability to changing circumstances related to cars or track conditions.
Taking the project from the UAE to Italy represents a significant milestone showcasing the Emirati experience's success. Almarzooqi expressed pride in being part of a team highlighting Abu Dhabi’s contributions to the world, aiming to expand A2RL's reach to more international circuits and further their goal of taking what they do in Abu Dhabi worldwide.
