ANF Busts Afghan Drug Network; 671kg Ice Seized
ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 4th Sep, 2026) Anti Narcotics Force (ANF), in coordination with Sri Lankan authorities and the US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), has busted an Afghanistan-based transnational drug trafficking network by seizing 671kg of methamphetamine from Karachi and Colombo ports. This followed an intelligence-led operation that resulted in the arrest of an Afghan mastermind and his local handlers.
According to ANF, actionable intelligence led to the disruption of a network involved in smuggling Afghan origin drugs through Pakistan to international markets. During a search at Karachi Port, officials recovered 200kg of methamphetamine (ice) and arrested Ehsan Ullah, an Afghan national described as the mastermind, along with his local handlers.
The ANF's detailed investigation of the Afghan kingpin yielded crucial information about the network's international operations. This intelligence was shared with Sri Lankan authorities and the US DEA for coordinated action. Acting on this information, a joint operation at Colombo Port recovered another 471kg of methamphetamine concealed in towels.
With these seizures from Karachi and Colombo ports, a total of 671kg of methamphetamine linked to the Afghanistan-based network was confiscated. The ANF emphasized Pakistan's role as a victim state for Afghan origin drugs, highlighting its close cooperation with allied law enforcement agencies.
The operation showcased the effectiveness of intelligence-led strategies in targeting international drug trafficking organizations and demonstrated the ANF's professional capabilities, as well as growing international partnerships in combating narcotics trafficking.
