US Grand Prix: Kimi Antonelli takes Austin pole on weekend he can win F1 title
BBC Sport
- Kimi Antonelli has taken pole position for the United States Grand Prix, setting up a potential world title win on Sunday.
Antonelli beat Max Verstappen by a narrow margin, with Isack Hadjar third and Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton following.
"It feels good to be back," exclaimed Antonelli, celebrating his first pole since July.
Verstappen, despite a strong showing in previous sessions, struggled in qualifying, attributing it to a lack of grip.
Antonelli's strategy for the race includes a strong start and maintaining a lead into Turn One. He faces a challenging battle against Verstappen and Hadjar, who also had impressive performances.
Verstappen commented, "Q3 was not good... but if it's still a P2, I take it."
