APPSCA Calls For Educational Policy Reforms As Public Sector Schools Show Weak Results In SSC-I
APPSCA (All Pakistan Private Schools & Colleges Association) has expressed grave concern over the low overall pass percentage in the recently declared Matric (Matriculation) Part-I examinations. Following the declaration of results across nine educational boards in Punjab, APPSCA's Central President, Dr. Abrar Hussain Malik, highlighted a significant performance gap between government and private institutions.
Citing board statistics, Dr. Abrar noted that government school students in BISE (Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education) Rawalpindi achieved a pass rate of only 30.82%, compared to 60.41% in private affiliated schools. Similarly, in BISE Gujranwala, public schools recorded a 39.59% pass rate, while private setups excelled with 69.71%. The overall pass rate of 37% declared by BISE is also concerning.
Accompanied by Secretary General Muhammad Ashraf Hiraj, Patron-in-Chief Qazi Zahoor-ul-Haq, and divisional leadership, APPSCA has urged the provincial government to:
- Launch targeted academic recovery initiatives in underperforming districts.
- Modernize teacher training programs.
- Reform foundational testing frameworks to enhance standards across public sector institutions.
