Arid University Enhances Pak-China Agri Research Collaboration
UrduPoint (3rd Sep, 2026) The Faculty of Agricultural Engineering and Technology at Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University (PMAS-AAUR) Rawalpindi, expanded Pakistan-China scientific cooperation through its participation in the GEO-STEP International Summer school hosted by Henan University, China.
The international academic forum brought together 50 researchers and scholars, including 26 international delegates, to facilitate technical exchanges, cross-cultural learning, and joint research discussions, said a press release issued here on Thursday.
Associate Professor Dr. Tahir Iqbal delivered a key lecture titled "Smart Agriculture in Arid Regions: Localized Innovation and Practical Applications of Precision Agriculture Technologies in Pakistan." He detailed Pakistan's progress in smart sensing, precision irrigation networks, and climate-resilient farming systems optimized for arid and semi-arid terrain.
PMAS-AAUR students secured second prize in the Student Presentation Competition, showcasing their strong technical capabilities. University officials affirmed that the performance reflected growing Pak-China institutional integration in agricultural engineering, modern farming technology, and joint academic capacity building.
