ATC Indicts 55 Workers of Banned Religious Party in Chung Violence Case
LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 3rd Sep, 2026) An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Thursday framed charges against 55 workers of a banned religious organisation in a case registered at Chung police station involving allegations of arson, vandalism and attacks on police personnel.
ATC Judge Shahid Sikandar conducted the proceedings in jail, where the accused were produced for trial. The charges were read out to all 55 accused, who pleaded not guilty and denied the allegations.
The court summoned prosecution witnesses to record their statements and adjourned further proceedings until September 10.
The case, FIR No. 6774/25, was registered at Chung police station against the accused, including Shahid Ali, Hafiz Muhammad Farooq, Muhammad Shafiq, Zahid Ali, Shafiq Ahmed, Yasir Ali and Abdul Sattar.
The attendance of both detained and bail-granted accused was completed during the proceedings. The prosecution has already submitted the challan in the case.
The accused have been charged with allegedly engaging in arson and attacking police personnel during violent protests.
