Authorities Intensify Dengue Prevention Drive, Orders Coordinated Action

Kohat authorities have intensified efforts to prevent the spread of dengue, with a high-level meeting directing relevant departments to take immediate measures to eliminate mosquito breeding sites and improve public health services.
The meeting, chaired by former Interior Minister and Member National Assembly Shehryar Afridi at the Commissioner’s Office, reviewed the dengue situation, sanitation arrangements, mosquito breeding sites, and healthcare facilities in the district.
Commissioner Kohat Division Syed Moatasim Billah Shah, Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Nawaz Wazir, the District Health Officer, medical superintendents of District Headquarters Hospital and Liaquat Memorial Hospital, and representatives of WSS Kohat, TMA, and police attended the meeting.
Officials briefed the meeting on preventive measures and the identification of potential mosquito breeding grounds. The participants called for improved sanitation, elimination of breeding sites, and an expanded public awareness campaign.
Afridi directed the concerned departments to take prompt action against dengue and ensure effective coordination to prevent its spread. He also warned officials against negligence in eliminating mosquito breeding sites.
The meeting reviewed issues affecting public hospitals and discussed measures to improve healthcare services for dengue patients and strengthen coordination between health authorities and other departments.
"Public health and the provision of basic facilities are our top priorities," Afridi said, adding that all available resources would be utilized to address dengue and other public health challenges.
