Axle Load Policy to Be Strictly Enforced: Aleem Khan

Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan on Thursday directed authorities to ensure strict and non-discriminatory implementation of the axle load policy, stating no relaxation would be permitted in prescribed weight limits.
During a meeting with a delegation from the All-Pakistan Goods Transporters Alliance, led by its Central President Malik Shehzad Awan, the minister discussed issues faced by goods transporters, the implementation of the axle load policy, improvements in Motorway Police conduct, and other transport sector matters.
The transporters' representatives expressed gratitude to Minister Khan for recent improvements and cooperation from the Motorway Police. They voiced satisfaction and confidence in the Ministry of Communications' efforts to address their community's challenges.
Emphasizing compliance with law and weight limits for road protection, the meeting also considered authorizing the Motorway Police to register FIRs for violations. The minister directed that industries, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), and other relevant departments be consulted in developing a comprehensive policy on axle load and transport-related issues.
Abdul Aleem Khan stressed that goods transporters should have no complaints about the Ministry of Communications or its departments. He tasked officials with prioritizing and effectively coordinating with provincial governments to resolve transporter issues.
The minister directed Secretary Communications to convene another consultative meeting on September 30 to review progress on considered issues and decide on further steps.
Alliance representatives also shared concerns regarding cement factories, leading the minister to direct relevant authorities to take necessary measures and hold consultations.
In conclusion, the All-Pakistan Goods Transporters Alliance pledged continued full cooperation with the government, expressing satisfaction and confidence in Minister Khan's initiatives.
