Balochistan Home Minister Reveals Foiled BLA Plot to Use Minor Girls in Suicide Attacks
Mir Zia Langau, Balochistan's Home Minister, held a high-profile press conference in Quetta, revealing a thwarted plan by the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) to use two minor girls in suicide attacks.
During the conference, Langau presented the girls, Zainab (16) and Fatima (12), who had been targeted by the group. He shared their interrogation details, exposing the BLA's malicious use of vulnerable minors for terrorist activities.
According to Langau, Zainab's husband and relatives were killed by militants, leading to her emotional exploitation by a local BLA commander. Similarly, Fatima, Zainab's cousin, was coerced after her father became a target. The girls disclosed being kept in hiding for 40 days, subjected to mistreatment, and pressured to carry out suicide attacks.
The plot was foiled when security forces intercepted the girls during a transfer operation, saving their lives. Expressing gratitude, the girls appealed for forgiveness from the government and nation.
Langau condemned the BLA's actions, highlighting a violation of cultural and social norms. He accused external hostile elements of plotting to destabilize Balochistan. Emphasizing the success of security agencies in preventing numerous attacks, he stressed their vigilance and sacrifices.
Reiterating the government's commitment to child welfare, Langau promised to provide educational, health, and welfare opportunities to protect minors from extremist exploitation. He urged parents and communities to stay vigilant.
