Banks to Observe Extended Working Hours on September 30 to Facilitate Tax Collection
KARACHI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 29th Sep, 2026) The State Bank of Pakistan, Tuesday, informed that all branches of commercial banks will remain open until 10:00 P.M. on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, to facilitate taxpayers in payment of Government duties and taxes.
The central bank, in a statement issued here, informed that the decision has been taken on the request of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to accommodate taxpayers for over-the-counter (OTC) payment of Government duties and taxes. All branches of commercial banks shall observe extended working hours until 10:00 P.M. on Wednesday, September 30, 2026.
To streamline online tax payments, the banks were also directed to ensure continuous access to their digital platforms, including:
- Internet banking
- Mobile applications
- ATMs
- Other digital platforms.
SBP additionally advised banks to keep concerned branches open on September 30, 2026, as long as necessary for facilitating Special Clearing for Government transactions conducted by NIFT.
