Bazm-e-Rooh Rihan to Observe Death Anniversary of Poet Shamsher Ul Hiadri on August 22
Bazm-e-Rooh Rihan will hold a literary session to commemorate the 14th death anniversary of renowned poet Shamsheer-ul Haiidri on August 22, 2026. The event will take place at the office of Anjuman Tajiran Qasimabad.

Born on September 15, 1931, in Badin District, Shamsheer-ul-Haidri received his primary education in Badin and later enrolled at Sindh Madrasah al-Islam Karachi. He faced expulsion from school for striking in 1948.
After a brief period of studying half-heartedly, he returned to his village and could not complete his matriculation. Later, he resumed his studies in various schools, including NGV School, Karachi; Noor Muhammad High School, Hyderabad; and Lawrence School, Tando Bago.
Haidri authored a monograph titled Poet for All Times and Independent Poetry of Sindh. He also served as Assistant Editor in Mehran Magazine (1956-1966), Editor of Naeen Zindagi, a monthly published by the Federal Government’s Information and Broadcasting Department (1965-1977), and various other roles.
He was a founding member of Sindhi Adabi Sangat, serving as its Secretary General from 1956 to 1960. Haidri hosted numerous programs and mushairas on Radio Pakistan Hyderabad and Karachi, contributing significantly to the promotion of Sindhi literature.
