The Bannu Development Authority (BDA) has urged the timely release of development funds, emphasizing that additional resources could significantly accelerate development and public service delivery in Bannu Township.

BDA Project Director Yousaf Haroon stated that the authority had not received a regular provincial government grant since 2017 and is currently managing its expenditures and development activities through its own revenue.

He highlighted the following:

  • ADP Portfolio: Rs344 million, with only around Rs40 million released over the last four years.
  • Road Infrastructure: Proposed budget of Rs277 million.
  • Utilization of Funds: Rs10 million released in 2022-23 for development activities, including vehicle purchases and drainage works.
  • On-going Projects: Construction of a retaining wall, approximately 30% completed.

Despite financial constraints, BDA continues to enhance public facilities, including park improvements, cleanliness initiatives, and planting.

During an online public hearing, residents raised concerns regarding electricity transformers, drainage, park cleanliness, and plant maintenance. Most issues were resolved on the spot, while officials were tasked with addressing remaining complaints.

Key Points:

  • Financial constraints despite ongoing development efforts.
  • Call for timely release of provincial government grants.
  • Public engagement and addressal of concerns during online hearing.
