Brook underlines status as world's best all-format batter in run-fest

Harry Brook: World's Top All-Format Batter

BBC Sport reports that Harry Brook has solidified his status as the world's best all-format batter in a recent run-fest in Rawalpindi.

Brook has undergone a remarkable transformation in just over a year, moving from a worried about his international career to becoming England's most important cricketer.

In a display of exceptional stroke-making, Brook scored 202 against Sri Lanka, an innings comparable to the legendary AB de Villiers. This was not just a significant score, but a historical one:

  • First double century scored by an Englishman in an ODI.
  • Faster double ton by anyone in an ODI (114 balls).

Brook has now joined an exclusive club, achieving the rare treble of a hundred in a T20, a double century in an ODI, and a triple century in a Test—a feat previously accomplished only by West Indies' Chris Gayle.

Despite his impressive individual performance, Brook's team lost the match, leaving him dejected. However, his overall achievements highlight his dominance:

  • Ranked as the best Test batter by the ICC.
  • Highest average for England Test batters since 1968.
  • Top average in T20Is among major nation batters with at least 20 innings.

As a captain, Brook's run-scoring prowess is even more impressive, averaging 31 more runs per innings in ODIs and 19 more in T20s when leading the team.
