Ireland vs Argentina: Team Announcements
Published
Nick Timoney, Craig Casey and Sean Jansen will start for Ireland against Argentina in the Nations Championship on Friday night, with Jamison Gibson Park and Josh van der Flier on the bench at the Aviva Stadium.
With Caelan Doris and Jack Conan ruled out through injury, Connacht's Jansen looks set to fill in at number eight. The 27-year-old made a try-scoring debut against Japan in July and featured as a replacement against the All Blacks shortly after.
The selection of Casey and Timoney was less predictable.
Influential scrum-half Gibson-Park, who returned from a groin injury against Munster on 24 October, will start on the bench, with Casey preferred at nine in a half-back partnership with Sam Prendergast, who has recovered from a wrist injury.
Ulster's Timoney, 31, has struggled to break into the side despite strong form for his province, but will start in his ninth consecutive Test match (seven from the bench).
