CDA Launches Tree Plantation Drive To Make Islamabad Greener
CDA has launched an extensive tree plantation and landscaping campaign across Islamabad to enhance the city’s environment and its natural beauty.
According to a press release issued on Sunday, the Environment Department is conducting plantation at major highways, interchanges, green belts, parks, public places, and other prominent locations.
As part of the campaign, Tabebuia trees, known for their beautiful pink flowers, were planted at Serena Interchange on Saturday. Once in full bloom, these trees are expected to improve the appearance of this important capital gateway.
The CDA stated that the campaign aims to:
- Increase green cover
- Improve the urban environment
- Reduce air pollution
- Provide shade
- Create healthier public spaces for citizens and visitors
The authority added that plantation activities are part of a comprehensive plan that involves:
- Selecting suitable sites
- Designing landscapes
- Planting various tree species
- Long-term maintenance and protection of plants
They also plan to develop green corridors along major roads and interchanges, further enhancing Islamabad’s scenic beauty.
The CDA appealed to citizens to cooperate with the plantation campaign, protect trees and green spaces, and contribute to preserving the capital’s natural environment.
