Chief Secretary Inaugurates 600-Watt Solar System at QUEST Nawabshah
UrduPoint (5th Sep, 2026) - Chief Secretary Sindh, Asif Hyder Shah, visited Quaid-e-Awam University of Engineering, Science and Technology (QUEST) and inaugurated a 600-watt solar system. Along with Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Saleem Raza Samo, he also launched a tree plantation campaign by planting a sapling.
Addressing a ceremony at the Central Library Auditorium, Chief Secretary noted the university's remarkable progress in a short period. He praised its improved ranking and computerized entry test system, attributing these achievements to the Vice Chancellor's efforts.
Emphasizing the crucial role of higher educational institutions in national development, he stressed the need to provide students with modern educational facilities and better research opportunities. He called for a focus on modern technology, research, and practical training to enhance academic and technical capabilities, preparing students for future challenges.
The Chief Secretary shared personal memories of the university, as his father, Ghulam Sarwar Shah, had served there as a principal. He announced plans to provide computers, install additional solar systems, and release funds for the university.
Earlier, the Vice Chancellor informed the Chief Secretary that the university has over 240 PhD and Master’s degree faculty members. He highlighted the university's efficient admission process, completed in a single day, including immediate test results, admission confirmation, roll number issuance, and hostel allotment.
At the ceremony's end, the Vice Chancellor presented a shield to the Chief Secretary. The event was attended by Commissioner Ghulam Qadir Khan Talpur, DIG Faisal Bashir Memon, SSP Dr. Sumair Noor Channa, Deputy Commissioner Abdul Samad Nizamani, deans, professors, officers, and staff of the university.
