Chiniot Police Initiate Community Policing at Mosques via Open Courts
Chiniot Police have embarked on a novel approach to community policing by holding open courts at mosques following Friday prayers. This initiative aligns with the vision of Punjab's Chief Minister, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, as implemented by District Police Officer (DPO) Dr. Naveed Atif.
Open Court Session
On September 4, 2026, Dr. Naveed Atif presided over an open court at Jamia Masjid Osmania in Ahmed Nagar, Chiniot, after the Friday prayers. This session aimed to foster direct interaction between the police and citizens, addressing their complaints and problems. Present were DSP Circle Lalian, SHO Police Station Chenab Nagar, In-charge Complaint Cell, and a substantial number of worshippers.
Addressing Citizen Concerns
The DPO personally listened to the citizens' grievances and assured them of prompt resolutions. He directed the relevant officers to take immediate action and instructed the Complaint Cell to ensure timely addressing of public requests, with follow-up reports. Dr. Atif also educated the attendees about Punjab Police services and updated them on the new traffic rules, emphasizing the importance of compliance for road safety.
Strengthening Community Policing
In his address, Dr. Atif emphasized that holding open courts at mosques was designed to draw police services closer to the community and reinforce community policing. He encouraged citizens to report social and moral evils, criminal activities, and suspicious individuals to the police, assuring that their reports would be meticulously documented and acted upon.
Continuous Engagement
Dr. Atif highlighted his daily open court session at his office, accessible to all citizens without reservation, where they can voice their grievances. He also promoted the DPO Chiniot helpline (370-4022020) for reporting complaints, problems, or information about criminal elements from the comfort of their homes.
The open court concluded with prayers for Pakistan's security, peace, and development, while local residents expressed their appreciation for this innovative policing approach.
