CM Bugti Reaffirms Merit-based Recruitment, Distributes Appointment Letters to 19 BRA Officers

QUETTA, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th Aug, 2026) Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Bugti has reiterated his government’s commitment to meritocracy in public sector recruitment, announcing the appointment of 19 officers to the Balochistan Revenue Authority (BRA) through the Higher Education Commission’s transparent process.
At a ceremony in Quetta, Sarfraz Bugti distributed appointment letters to the newly selected officers, congratulating them and urging them to serve with hard work, dedication, integrity, and unconditional loyalty to the state. He emphasized that BRA has the potential to play a key role in shaping the province’s economic future, particularly by generating revenue to reduce the burden of non-developmental expenditures.
Sarfraz Bugti noted that a significant portion of provincial resources is consumed by non-developmental costs, leaving limited funds for public welfare. He expressed hope that BRA would help increase provincial revenue, enabling greater investment in education, health, infrastructure, and other development priorities.
The Chief Minister recalled his pledge upon assuming office that government jobs would not be sold and merit would always prevail. He highlighted that over 14,500 teachers were recruited on merit in the Education Department, and the latest BRA appointments reflect the same policy.
He pointed out that even candidates from his own district, Dera Bugti, did not succeed, underscoring the fairness and transparency of the process.
Sarfraz Bugti praised Finance Minister Mir Shoaib Nosherwani, BRA Chairperson Abdullah Khan Noorzai, and the entire team for ensuring merit-based recruitment, stating that such practices are vital for restoring youth confidence in state institutions. He urged the new officers to work with sincerity and professionalism, noting that achieving the next fiscal year’s revenue targets would be their first major test.
He further stressed that unconditional loyalty to the state must be the hallmark of every public servant, adding that Pakistan is the ultimate identity for all officials. Bugti said bridging the gap between youth and the state requires strengthening meritocracy, which in turn fosters trust and commitment between citizens and institutions.
The Chief Minister also expressed satisfaction that talented women were among those selected, reaffirming the government’s priority to provide equal opportunities to all capable youth of Balochistan. He said that the provincial government is determined to make BRA a model, efficient, and effective institution, contributing significantly to Balochistan’s financial stability and self-reliance.
