CM Leaves For Four-day Official Visit To China
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday departed for a four-day official visit to China, where she is scheduled to hold high-level meetings with the leadership of Xinjiang and discuss matters of mutual interest.
Chinese Consul General in Lahore, Sun Yan, was present at the airport to see off the chief minister as she left for China. Upon her arrival at Urumqi International Airport, the chief minister will be received by senior Chinese officials.
During her visit, Maryam Nawaz will stay as an official guest at the Xinjiang State Guest House. She will commence her engagements at the Kunlun Hall of the Conference Centre.
A high-level delegation led by Chen Xiaojian, Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Xinjiang Committee, will meet the chief minister. She will also hold a meeting with He Zhongyou, Deputy Party Secretary of the CPC Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Regional Committee.
The CM will also hold an important meeting with a delegation of the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps (XPCC), focusing on cooperation and areas of mutual interest. A dinner will be hosted in honour of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and the Punjab delegation.
The four-day visit is expected to provide an opportunity for further strengthening cooperation and developing institutional and economic linkages between Punjab and Xinjiang.
