CM Maryam Nawaz Approves UoS Sub-campus and Center of Excellence in Sillanwali

Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Maryam Nawaz Sharif has approved the establishment of a sub-campus of the University of Sargodha (UoS) and a Center of Excellence in Sillanwali tehsil, on the recommendation of Member Provincial Assembly and Chairman Zakat and Ushr Council, Rana Munawar Ghaus.

This was disclosed at a meeting chaired by Additional Deputy Commissioner (DC) Revenue, Khawar Bashir Ahmad, held at the DC's Office on Friday to review administrative arrangements and progress on implementing the project.

  • Attendees: MPA Rana Munawar Ghaus, Assistant Commissioner (AC) Sillanwali Chaudhry Muhammad Akmal, UoS Dean of Sciences Dr. Ameer Ali, Deputy Director Colleges Muhammad Zia-ul-Hassan, and other relevant officers.

The meeting informed that the district administration had allocated 50 acres of land on Burhana Road for the University of Sargodha. The project will be executed in two phases:

  • Phase 1: Establishing the Center of Excellence with a focus on advanced education and research, including PhD classes and modern research facilities.
  • Phase 2: Launching various BS-level academic programs under the university’s sub-campus.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Revenue directed concerned officers to expedite completion of administrative and technical requirements for timely project progress. He emphasized expanding access to higher education at the tehsil level as a priority of the Punjab government, adding that the new UoS facilities would create opportunities for local youth in Sillanwali.
