CM Orders Decisive Action Against Corruption Across Punjab
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has ordered decisive action against corruption across the province, resulting in the suspension, dismissal, arrest and registration of cases against 54 officers and officials allegedly involved in corrupt practices.
The crackdown has intensified within the food department, where 48 officers and officials have faced action over allegations of corruption.
Key Actions:
- Dismissals: Six Food Grain Inspectors and officials were removed from service in Bahawalpur. This includes Sajid Mahmood Khan, Muhammad Saleem, Asim Ali, Abdul Rasheed, Muhammad Ishaq, Tariq Rasheed, Waseem Talha, Haroon Abdullah, and Umar Hayat. In Gujranwala, nine Assistant Food Controllers and other officials were dismissed.
- Removals: Food Grain Inspector Nadeem Shehzad (Sargodha), Assistant Food Controller Humayun Shaukat Bhatti (Multan), Food Grain Inspector Rana Abdul Sattar (Dera Ghazi Khan) and Food Grain Inspector Huzaifa Younas (Gujrat) were also removed from service.
- Disciplinary Proceedings: Fourteen Food Controllers face disciplinary action, including those from Bahawalnagar, Okara, Narowal, Rahim Yar Khan, Dera Ghazi Khan, Mianwali, Sahiwal, and Chakwal.
- Arrests: Anti-Corruption Establishment teams arrested several officials in separate operations. These include Riaz Ahmed (Vehari), Muhammad Ashraf (Sheikhupura), Zain-ul-Islam (Faisalabad), Muhammad Aslam (Faisalabad), Ghulam Murtaza (Bahawalnagar), Mudassar Iqbal (Mandi Bahauddin), Qamar Zaman (Gujranwala).
Chief Minister Sharif emphasized that the anti-corruption campaign would continue until a "corruption-free Punjab" is achieved.
