CM Orders Restructuring of DGPR, Approves New HQ Building
LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 3rd Sep, 2026) Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif on Thursday ordered the restructuring of the Directorate General Public Relations (DGPR) and called for third-party validation to assess the department’s performance. She also approved a new building for the DGPR headquarters and directed authorities to clear outstanding payments to the media immediately.
These directives were issued at a special meeting chaired by the chief minister, during which Information and Culture Minister Azma Zahid Bukhari provided a detailed overview of the department's functioning and communication strategy.
Punjab CM highlighted the need to modernize DGPR’s working methods, stating that "communication has evolved from an art into a science, and it is crucial to understand this." She emphasized the importance of keeping the public informed about government initiatives to differentiate between facts and misinformation in today's era of abundant information.
She also commended the Information Minister for setting an example in public communication.
