CM Sarfraz Bugti Launches Digital Initiatives for Balochistan Police
CM Sarfraz Bugti inaugurated a series of digital initiatives by Balochistan Police at the Central Police Office in Quetta, declaring a shift towards digitalization to enhance transparency, service delivery, and public trust.
Addressing the ceremony, he made several key announcements:
- Property Owners in Mastung: Those whose lands are used for attacks on security forces or officials will be considered facilitators, not innocent parties.
- Investigative Committee: A committee was formed to probe complaints regarding Tehsildar recruitment in the Balochistan Public Service Commission, with findings to be made public.
- Police Applications: Praising the launch of 18 police applications (including 8 upgrades and 8 new ones), he emphasized their role in assisting citizens with criminal justice processes and everyday grievances. He highlighted special digital facilities for women and families of martyrs, aiming to strengthen public confidence.
- Women’s Protection Apps: Emphasizing the need for improved and promoted women’s protection apps through awareness campaigns, enabling young women to declare emergencies instantly.
- Scholarships and Pink Transport: Linking this to broader reforms, including scholarships, pink scooters, pink buses, and stronger workplace harassment laws, ensuring women’s progress alongside men.
- Cash Reward and Digitalization: Announcing a Rs. 5 million cash reward for the IT team behind the initiatives, he pledged Rs. 50 million for further digitalization in the current year. He acknowledged cooperation from Punjab Police and the Punjab Government, mentioning that other provinces like Sindh and Gilgit-Baltistan have also shown interest in adopting Balochistan’s AI-based merit testing system.
- Future of Digitalization: Underscoring the limitless potential of digitalization, he promised that within three to four years, Balochistan Police will be among Pakistan’s strongest and most empowered forces, capable of countering terrorism and crime effectively.
- Support for Families of Martyrs and Police Personnel: Assuring families of martyrs of government support and promising salary adjustments for police personnel in line with inflation, especially for frontline units like ATF, CTD, and SOW.
Sarfraz Bugti acknowledged that reforms may cause initial discomfort but insisted on making correct decisions, not just popular ones.
