Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah Reviews Facilities and Programs
KARACHI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - August 25, 2026) - Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah visited the Milestones Centre for Cognitive and Language Development, a partner organization of the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPD), Sindh Government. During his visit, he reviewed various facilities and educational programs offered to children with special needs.
Upon arrival at the centre in Clifton, Chief Minister Shah was welcomed by Secretary DEPD, Tauha Farooqi, and Milestones Trustee Ms Fauzia Javed Hussain. He toured different sections of the institution, assessing educational, therapeutic, and rehabilitation services for neurodivergent children. The Chief Minister interacted with students and teachers, showing interest in their activities and achievements.
He praised the centre's efforts and highlighted its commitment to providing quality education, therapy, and rehabilitation services free of cost to children with special needs, including Down syndrome, Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Developmental delay, and Fragile X syndrome.
Ms Fauzia Javed, Milestones Trustee, explained that the organisation was established in 1998 and offers a comprehensive academic and rehabilitative program tailored for each child's individual needs. Unlike other institutes, all services are provided free to deserving students.
In his speech, Chief Minister Shah commended Milestones' outstanding work in education, training, and rehabilitation of special children. He assured the Sindh Government's continuous support for empowering individuals with disabilities.
Addressing a ceremony organised by the Milestone Charitable Trust, Shah noted that the trust has served children and families since 1998, becoming a model institution in inclusive education. He highlighted Milestones' status as Pakistan's first bilingual school dedicated to neurodivergent children, including those with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, and other developmental challenges.
The Chief Minister emphasised the importance of quality education and equal opportunities for all children, praising Milestones' initiative to offer fee concessions to deserving families. He also noted the centre's optimal student-teacher ratio of 2:1, ensuring individualised attention and effective learning outcomes.
