The Ministry of Health and Prevention has expanded the list of priority groups for this year’s seasonal influenza vaccine, including school students and pilgrims travelling for Hajj and Umrah for the first time.
"September is an ideal time to receive the annual flu vaccine," experts say, “because it provides approximately two weeks for immunity to develop before influenza activity increases during the season.”

The UAE Ministry of Health particularly urges older individuals and pregnant women to get vaccinated due to their higher risk of complications.

Since 2025, UAE authorities have introduced a needle-free vaccine administered as a nasal spray, providing an alternative for those who prefer it.
