Constitution Must Be Given Priority in Exercise of Powers: Justice Aminuddin Khan

The Federal Constitutional Court is effectively fulfilling its responsibilities concerning constitutional matters, says its Chief Justice.

Justice Aminuddin Khan, Chief Justice of the Federal Constitutional Court, has stated that the Constitution must be given priority in every circumstance when exercising powers.
Addressing a ceremony in Islamabad, he emphasized that the beginning of the new judicial year was a time to renew the commitment to delivering justice. He argued that social stability is only possible through adherence to the Constitution.
Justice Aminuddin Khan explained that the Constitution clearly outlines powers and limitations, adding that the Federal Constitutional Court is effectively discharging its duties regarding constitutional issues. He highlighted the importance of incorporating modern technology into judicial affairs, noting that the court has decided several significant cases within a short period. The use of technology enhances institutional capacity and transparency, he stated.
The Chief Justice of the Federal Constitutional Court emphasized that access to justice is the right of every citizen and that impartial constitutional justice should remain the institution’s primary focus. He revealed that appointments for hearing cases are conducted transparently, emphasizing that judicial independence is paramount in any society.
Justice Aminuddin Khan shared that cooperation in the judicial sector is being strengthened through foreign visits and activities. Visits by bar associations and other delegations to the Federal Constitutional Court are also valuable, he added. The court remains committed to fulfilling its assigned constitutional responsibilities with unwavering dedication, he assured.
He expressed a desire to promote cooperation between the bar and the bench and reaffirmed the court’s commitment to further bolstering public confidence in the justice system.
