Cooler temperatures with wet and windy weather forecast for UK this week

Meteorological summer is over, schools are back, and so is the UK's unsettled weather. After a heat spike on Sunday, low pressure systems will continue to bring wet and windy conditions, especially to the north of the UK at the beginning of the week.
Before things settle down on Wednesday and Thursday, here’s what you need to know:
- Temperature Drop: Despite Sunday's temperature approaching 29°C (84°F) in south-east England, many places will feel cooler this week.
- Rainy Week: Last week was the wettest week in England since early February, according to the Environment Agency.
- Low Pressure Systems: These systems will bring wet and windy weather, especially on Monday and Tuesday.
- Monday's Weather: Low pressure remaining north-west of Scotland will push further weather fronts across the UK, bringing cloud, showers, and sunny spells. Temperatures will peak at 25°C in south-east England.
- Windy North: Northern parts of the UK will be particularly windy on Tuesday, with gusts of 50-60mph possible in Scotland and Northern Ireland.
- Drought Conditions: Much of England and Wales are still experiencing drought conditions despite recent rain.
- More Settled Week: By midweek, rising pressure will leave a dry week for most areas, except western parts which may see showers on Thursday.
- Seasonal Temperatures: Temperatures from midweek will be near the seasonal average, with highest temperatures in the south-east around 22°C.
