A crackdown against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers is underway in Rawalpindi, with police detaining 55 workers so far, according to a private TV channel.

The report states that PTI has organized a long march for September 27, prompting Rawalpindi police to initiate the crackdown. During targeted operations across the district, police took 55 party workers into custody.

According to police sources, the operation is expected to intensify today with additional lists being prepared for the arrest of active PTI members.

Police raided the residence of Zubair Khan, a former adviser to the Punjab chief minister and PTI leader, taking his son Shuja and a security guard from the street during the raid. Sources revealed that a large contingent of police conducted the operation, breaking down doors to enter the house and damaging CCTV cameras.
