CTPL Establishes Five Scooter Driving Schools, Dedicated Licensing Counters For Female Students
CTPL (City Traffic Police Lahore) has established five scooter driving training schools and set up dedicated scooter licensing counters across the city to assist female students under Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s e-bike scheme.
According to a CTPL spokesperson, this initiative aligns with the Chief Minister's vision to empower women, particularly female students, and promote self-reliance. The schools are located at:
- Abshar Driving School
- Liberty Khidmat Markaz
- Greater Iqbal Park
- Traffic Police Lines Manawan
- LOS Ferozepur Road
Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Lahore, Syed Abdul Rahim Shirazi, stated that dedicated scooter counters have been operationalized at every licensing centre to streamline the process for students, who only need to provide their Computerized National Identity Cards (CNIC) for license acquisition.
He highlighted the following:
- Five driving schools for scooter training and 12 schools for car driving training have been established across Lahore specifically for women.
- Free scooter riding lessons are offered at LOS Ferozepur Road, alongside a women-to-women training service across all designated schools to ensure a comfortable learning environment.
As of now, over 15,256 women have received training from CTPL driving schools, comprising 8,220 in car driving and 7,290 in motorcycle and scooter riding, including 1,629 women trained this year.
The CTO emphasized that empowering women through mobility will bring visible socio-economic changes, underscoring the importance of their active participation alongside men for societal development.
