DC Upper Kohistan Inaugurates Rainwater Harvesting System
KOHISTAN, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th Aug, 2026) Deputy Commissioner Upper Kohistan Azizullah Jan on Tuesday inaugurated a Surface Runoff Rainwater Harvesting System at the Water Management Office. The system is aimed at:
- Conserving rainwater
- Improving sustainable water management in the district
During the inauguration ceremony, officials briefed Azizullah Jan about the project’s objectives and expected benefits. They highlighted:
- The system's ability to collect and store rainwater that would otherwise be lost through surface runoff
- Its contribution to groundwater recharge
- Meeting future water requirements while reducing water losses and soil erosion
Azizullah Jan directed concerned officials to ensure:

- Timely completion of the project for early public benefit.
He emphasized the importance of effective rainwater management for conserving water resources and ensuring their sustainable use for future generations. The deputy commissioner also noted that water is a precious natural resource and called for collective efforts to conserve and wisely utilize it.
