Debates Are Always Positive When Held for Pakistan’s Development: Rana Ehsan Afzal
ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 9th Sep, 2026) Coordinator to the Prime Minister Rana Ehsan Afzal on Wednesday stated that discussions on public issues should remain constructive and focused on the development and progress of Pakistan.
Speaking to a private news channel, he emphasized that the primary objective of political discourse should be to enhance the country and ensure the well-being and prosperity of its citizens. He underscored the significance of devolving power to the grassroots level, arguing that stronger local governance could address public concerns more effectively and improve service delivery.
Afzal suggested that creating new provinces could benefit local populations by ensuring them a larger share of resources and promoting development in their respective regions.
“If any city is elevated to province status, its inhabitants will reap the benefits through increased access to resources, leading to the area’s overall development,” he explained.
In response to a question, Afzal noted that the Constitution empowers the government to seek public opinion on any matter through a referendum. He added that this process could provide valuable insight into the people’s consent on issues of national importance.
