DEC Organized Mock Poll Activity to Promote Awareness Regarding Electoral Process
DEC organized a mock poll activity at Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University under the Department of Education to promote awareness among students regarding the electoral process, voting procedures, and democratic values.
District Election Commissioner (DEC) Muhammad Yousuf Majeedano and Vice Chancellor Engineer Professor Madad Ali Shah attended as chief guests. The event also included lecturers Rashida Lutf, Shabana Naz Siddiqui, and Masroor Memon, along with faculty members and students.
During the mock poll, the DEC practically demonstrated various stages of polling, including:
- Voter identification
- Issuance of ballot papers
- Voting procedure
- Vote counting
Students actively participated, gaining hands-on experience of the electoral process.
District Election Commissioner and Vice Chancellor emphasized the importance of educating youth about elections, stating that such activities help them understand voting rights, civic responsibilities, and election transparency.
The Vice Chancellor praised the initiative, highlighting the role of educational institutions in character building and fostering responsible citizenship. Participants agreed that such mock polls were informative and beneficial, advocating for continued awareness programs.
Shields and certificates were distributed to participating students and members of the voter education committee by the Vice Chancellor and DEC.
