Decision to Re-engage School Teacher Interns in Punjab
Punjab government has decided to retain the services of currently deployed school Teacher Interns (STIs) and recruit new ones for vacant positions. The School Education Department (SED) has issued directives to execute new contracts with the existing STIs, extending their services from August 24, 2026, to May 31, 2027.
The SED has also initiated the recruitment process for new STIs to fill vacant posts, following the 2024 policy. These recruitments will be based on district-wise allocated quotas, and all Chief Executive Officers across the province have been asked to provide updated records of STIs. Strict adherence to rules and regulations regarding recruitment and deployment is mandatory, with the SED prioritizing the process.
