Detention of Imran Khan’s sisters may be extended as Pakistan faces terrorism from India and Afghanistan, while such individuals are hindering the fight against terrorism, the federal adviser said.
ISLAMABAD (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 27th Oct, 2026) Prime Minister’s Adviser on Political Affairs Rana Sanaullah stated that decisions to extend the detention of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leaders and Imran Khan’s sisters are not based on personal wishes or moods, but on national intelligence reports and ground security realities.
He characterized the current severe terrorism as not ordinary, with elements and motives posing a direct threat to the writ of the state and national integrity.
During anchorperson Muhammad Malik’s programme, Rana Sanaullah was asked about the release of Imran Khan’s detained sisters after the 30-day period. He responded that all administrative and security decisions depend on operational requirements at the time and intelligence agency reports.
He further explained that the measures taken by law-enforcement agencies aim to completely eliminate terrorism from the country and restore lasting peace and order, ensuring Pakistan’s protection and survival. He confirmed that all relevant institutions are fully mobilised for this goal.
Addressing another question, the government adviser stated that individuals placed in protective custody due to security concerns are safeguarded against possible public outrage, untoward incidents, or threats. He strongly rejected the notion of personal or political revenge behind the detentions, emphasizing that all actions are in accordance with national peace, constitutional limits, and state requirements. He added that lawful action will continue against those involved in anti-state activities, law violations, and attempts to sabotage law and order, with no tolerance for pressure in this regard.
