The opposition has been fully briefed on the government’s decisions and will present its final response during today’s crucial round of talks.

Political Standoff Set to End?

A decisive round of talks between the Federal government and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is expected today to resolve the political standoff, with final decisions from both sides.

According to sources and media reports, no consensus was reached during yesterday's talks. The government insisted on an unconditional end to the protest and long march, while PTI demanded access to their leader, Imran Khan, and meetings with him.

The government has made it clear that no concessions will be made under pressure from protests. They have warned of considering emergency measures (Article 232) or governor’s rule (Article 234) if the opposition remains firm on its stance.

The government delegation emphasized that no assurances can be given without the unconditional cancellation of the long march and refused to accept any kind of dictation. They also accused the provincial government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa of failing to curb rising terrorism, demanding action against alleged terrorist facilitators.

If PTI persists with their long march during today’s talks, negotiations will be terminated, and the government may take strict measures to restore its authority.
