Defence Day: Families of Martyrs Gather at Graveyard, Pay Homage

FAISALABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 6th Sep, 2026) The nation on Sunday paid heartfelt tribute to its brave sons who laid down their lives for the defense of Pakistan, as a solemn Defense Day ceremony at main graveyard (Bara Qabristan) on Narwala Road brought together families of martyrs, cemetery committee office-bearers, civil society representatives, and people from different walks of life to honor the heroes of September 1965 war.
In this connection, Anjuman Islamia Faisalabad organized a special ceremony to pay homage to the martyrs resting at the main cemetery of Narwala Road and commemorate their supreme sacrifices for the defense of the country.
Speakers at the gathering praised the courageous sons of Pakistan who had offered their lives for their homeland. They affirmed that the martyrs of the 1965 war continue to live in the hearts of the people, and the nation would forever be indebted to those who sacrificed for the protection of its soil.
The speakers described the martyrs as the pride of the nation, highlighting that the September 1965 war was a glorious chapter in Pakistan's defense history. During this conflict, the Pak armed forces responded resolutely to aggression, demonstrating courage, determination, and resilience while defending their homeland.
They emphasized that Defense Day is not merely a day of remembrance but also an opportunity to renew the national commitment to the values of courage, unity, patriotism, and sacrifice exemplified by the martyrs and Ghazis.
Standing at the final resting places of the martyrs, participants pledged to make any sacrifice for the defense and security of their motherland. They expressed that they would honor the legacy of their loved ones who had given their lives during the 1965 war, remaining ready to make sacrifices for Pakistan's sovereignty and security whenever required.
The participants believed that the sacrifices of the martyrs would continue to inspire future generations, serving as a reminder that independence and security had been secured through the courage and devotion of Pakistan's sons.
Quran Khawani and special prayers for the elevation of the martyrs' ranks were held. Floral wreaths were also laid at the graves of national heroes as a mark of respect and gratitude for their unparalleled sacrifices.
