Defence Day Reminds Nation Of Sacrifice, Unity And Resolve To Safeguard Pakistan: IGP Rizvi
ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 6th Sep, 2026) Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi on Sunday paid tribute to the country’s martyrs and war veterans on Defence Day, saying their sacrifices remained an unforgettable chapter of Pakistan’s national history and a guiding light for future generations.
A police spokesperson told APP that in his message on Defence Day, the IGP said September 6 was an unforgettable day in the country’s history and an occasion to honour those who sacrificed for the defence and security of the homeland. He stated that the sacrifices rendered by the Pakistan Armed Forces for the security, sovereignty and defence of the country would always be remembered.
Rizvi highlighted that the martyrs' sacrifices were a bright chapter in national history and would continue to inspire future generations. He also paid tribute to the martyrs of Islamabad Police, acknowledging their contributions to peace and security.
The IGP emphasised that Defence Day taught the nation the values of unity, discipline, and solidarity, stressing that every citizen had a role to play in safeguarding the country’s peace and security. He urged citizens to remember the sacrifices of the martyrs while contributing towards Pakistan’s progress and prosperity. According to Rizvi, ensuring the welfare of the families of martyrs was a national responsibility.
"On Defence Day, we should renew our pledge to remain united for Pakistan’s security, peace, and stability," the IGP concluded. He offered prayers for the elevation of all martyrs' ranks and for God's blessings upon Pakistan with lasting peace and security.
