Defence Day to be Observed with National Zeal on September 06:

SARGODHA, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 3rd Sep, 2026) Defence Day of Pakistan will be celebrated in Sargodha on September 6 with great national spirit and zeal under the supervision of the district administration.
A meeting, chaired by Additional Deputy Commissioner (Headquarters) Ahmad Mughis, was convened to finalise arrangements for various events planned to commemorate the occasion. Assistant commissioners and officers from education, colleges, sports, municipal corporation, arts council, information, police, and other relevant departments attended.
The gathering reviewed several programmes aimed at highlighting the significance of Defence Day and paying tribute to the sacrifices of martyrs, veterans, and civilians who contributed to the nation's defence, especially by educating the younger generation about these acts of bravery.
A central ceremony for raising the Hilal-e-Istiqlal flag and a rally were also discussed. The celebrations will feature national songs and musical performances, sports competitions (including hockey, football, martial arts), painting contests, and a pictorial exhibition focusing on the theme of Defence Day.
The exhibition will showcase the sacrifices of martyrs and veterans from the 1965 war, as well as the Pakistan Army officers and soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice defending the country. It will also highlight the contributions of civilians during times of conflict.
A special Defence Day float will be designed, while speech contests and tableaux on the theme of Defence Day will be organised among students from public and private educational institutions.
The meeting decided that all government buildings and private institutions should fly national flags and decorate their premises to reflect a national spirit.
ADC Headquarters instructed the concerned departments to finalise programmes and schedules at the earliest to ensure smooth and effective implementation.
Mr. Mughis emphasised that Defence Day serves as a reminder of the great sacrifices made by martyrs and veterans. He added that the primary goal of the celebrations should be to educate the younger generation about national defence, unity, and patriotism.
