RAWALPINDI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 23rd Sep, 2026) District authorities have evaluated ongoing vector management and field containment protocols during a District Emergency and Response Committee (DERC) meeting on Wednesday, confirming 15 total dengue cases in Rawalpindi with significant improvement as compared to the previous year.

Co-chaired by Additional Deputy Commissioner Social Services Fazail Mudassar and Additional Deputy Commissioner Enforcement Abdul Rehman Khan, the session reviewed larva case responses, high-risk union council sweeping, botanical clearance and hotspot monitoring.

Detailed briefing metrics presented by health officials revealed:

  • Vector surveillance teams inspected 4,954,203 houses and 1,717,525 potential breeding sites across the district.
  • Surveillance tracking logged 17,377 larva detections between September 14 and 21, with field units completing rapid vector elimination responses across 17,102 sites, leaving 275 pending actions.

Intensive sweeping operations also targeted high-risk union councils, commercial zones, and public spaces from September 14 to 20.

ADC Fazail Mudassar directed health and municipal supervisors to sustain field operations without laxity, warning of disciplinary action against personnel submitting fake or inaccurate activity logs. He instructed line departments to maintain zero-tolerance surveillance across registered hotspots to suppress potential outbreaks before the peak autumn transmission season.

The latest data from health authorities shows a total of 4,509 patients screened under disease surveillance conducted by hospitals in Rawalpindi. Administrative oversight included 32 District Emergency Response Committee (DERC) meetings and 105 Tehsil Emergency Response Committee meetings (TERC) held during the year.

The update highlights punitive actions enforced against larva detection and violations of standard operating procedures, with registered 2,543 FIRs, sealed 652 premises, issued 2,119 challans and imposed fines totaling Rs. 2,568,000.
