The Diana Memorial Fountain in Hyde Park, a popular spot to cool down during hot weather, has been dry all summer due to a technical fault.
Royal Parks, the charity responsible for the park, apologized to visitors disappointed by the lack of water, especially given the recent prolonged heatwave.
The fountain, dedicated to Diana, Princess of Wales who passed away in 1997, opened in 2004. Its closure was initially caused by a mechanical breakdown in the pump, followed by software failure preventing the restoration of the water supply.
While specialist teams worked to resolve the issue, the fountain remained dry for longer than expected. The charity expects water to flow again in the next few weeks.
This isn't the first time the £3.6m memorial has faced disruptions. It previously closed due to visitor accidents, renovation work, and blocked drains.
