DIG Operations Takes Public Policing to Digital Platform

Lahore, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 30th Aug, 2026) Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Operations Faisal Kamran on Sunday held his first Facebook open court, attracting over 10,000 citizens from Pakistan and abroad. This initiative aims to bridge the gap between police services and the public through digital platforms.

During the 45-minute online session, citizens directly voiced their complaints, police-related issues, and suggestions to the DIG Operations. He also engaged with several citizens via phone calls after receiving Facebook messages, addressing their concerns.

The DIG instructed relevant officers to prioritize Lahore-related complaints and provide feedback to complainants, emphasizing the need for a robust follow-up mechanism. He stressed that public opinion is integral to policing, saying, "Your opinion is important to us; action will be taken on your identification of issues."

Kamran encouraged citizens to act as watchdogs, reporting social evils like kite flying, aerial firing, and one-wheeling. He also sought public cooperation in drug control, assuring strict confidentiality for informants. Action will be taken against illegal activities masquerading as massage centres.

The DIG highlighted police's role in tackling societal problems and crime prevention, emphasizing the importance of public collaboration. He advised citizens to verify housing society approvals from Lahore Development Authority before purchasing property and to use written agreements for transactions to avoid fraud.

The Lahore office will hold a public open court six days a week, with a Sunday Facebook open court.
